Trauma leaves more than just memories — it leaves imprints in the body and mind that can feel impossible to move past. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people process trauma, reduce distress, and reclaim a sense of safety. At The Perfect Prescription, our licensed therapists use EMDR to guide you through healing at your own pace, in a supportive and private online setting.
You’re just one step away from meaningful support, tailored care, and real transformation.
EMDR is a structured therapy that helps the brain process difficult memories and experiences that may be “stuck” in the nervous system. By combining guided eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) with therapeutic support, EMDR reduces the emotional charge of painful memories while allowing healthier thoughts and feelings to emerge.
Originally developed to treat PTSD, EMDR is now widely used for anxiety, depression, grief, phobias, and more. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR often works more quickly because it focuses on how trauma is stored in both the brain and body.
You don’t need to have lived through a single “big” traumatic event to benefit from EMDR. Many people seek EMDR to address a range of issues, including:
PTSD and childhood trauma
Anxiety and panic attacks
Depression and negative self-beliefs
Grief and complicated loss
Phobias or fears that feel overwhelming
Chronic stress or burnout
Abuse, neglect, or emotional wounds
Performance blocks (academic, work, or athletic)
Every EMDR session is tailored to your unique experiences and goals. Here’s how it typically unfolds:
History & Planning: Your therapist will learn about your background, current struggles, and desired outcomes.
Preparation: Together, you’ll build coping tools and grounding strategies so you feel safe and supported.
Targeting Memories: You’ll identify specific memories or experiences to process.
Desensitization: Using eye movements or other bilateral stimulation, your therapist will guide you through safely reprocessing these memories.
Reprocessing & Integration: Over time, distressing memories lose intensity, and healthier beliefs replace old negative patterns.
Sessions are done virtually, making it easy to access care from your own home.
Use a few simple filters to discover licensed couples therapists who align with your values and goals.

Alexandra P.She is very knowledgeable of the medications, and explained in depth of the medications and side effects. She let's you participate in the plan of care and respects you as a person without judging you. I will surely let my friends and family that needs help see her. I love her European accent in addition to her manners. Thank you so much Lorraine!
KBThis practice (and especially the provider I see, Lorraine) is awesome. They are always kind, helpful, and friendly, and I've never had to wait more than a minute or two to get connected to my appointment. Lorraine is very nice, has excellent bedside manner, and is very competent in the medical field. She also goes above and beyond for her patients: I was having issues with my pharmacy last month, and before I even told her about it or asked her to call them, she had already called to find out what needed to be done to resolve it. I would recommend The Perfect Prescription medical practice and especially Lorraine to anyone who is looking for a new provider!
OWTrauma may be part of your story, but it doesn’t have to define your future. Our EMDR therapists are here to guide you through the healing process — safely, gently, and effectively.

Maxine is simply the best in the business, hands down. She is caring and supportive and listens very well. She makes sure to adress all of your concerns while not over medicating you like some doctors do. She would be a perfect fit for someone's first experience with mental health, I wish she had been mine.
